Samantha Moeller is an educator at Lower Brule Schools. With an unconventional pathway into her career in education, Samantha has unique experience, knowledge, and skills to guide students. In her tenure as a teacher, Samantha has held a variety of positions. Though most of this work has been as a math teacher, Samantha has taught speech, hospitality management, employability, work-study, and more. Her passion for helping students led her to become the senior adviser, where she has excelled at helping students prepare and achieve post-secondary success. Samantha has played a key role in the success of the Peer Mentors group at Lower Brule Schools, helping to create a more positive and connected school environment. Outside of her professional life, Samantha is a mother of two children and three dogs. She enjoys being with family and friends, music, reading, and travelling.

Outcomes:

Groups became increasingly unified, exhibiting a shared commitment to healthy norms, and actively encouraged peers in help-seeking behaviors, fostering a supportive environment where every member feels valued and understood.
Social Network Health's interactive training fostered an even more dynamic relationship network. Within these groups, vulnerable members can draw strength from adaptive members, leading to more changes in who they identify as valued connections.
Schools have reported significant improvements in various metrics, including increased daily attendance, higher graduation rates, enhanced identification of Trusted Adults, greater willingness to seek help, and improved connectedness among students and staff. Additionally, school disciplinary issues have notably declined, reflecting the program's positive impact on the school climate and student well-being.
