Kelsey has dedicated nearly nine years to the Red Lake School District in Northern Minnesota, serving in multiple capacities, with her most recent role being a Student Support Professional. Three years ago, she played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Peer Leadership program at Red Lake High School and has remained actively involved since its inception. She is dedicated to the Red Lake community and is committed to fostering connections for students to grow in their language and culture. In her leisure, Kelsey loves to travel, exploring new places and perspectives. She values her connections and invests quality time in her friends and family, cherishing the experiences they share. Additionally, she has a deep appreciation for nature and capturing moments through photography, often seeking adventures outdoors.
This work focuses on building positive connections within school communities, helping students identify trusted adults. These connections are vital for students to gain the social and academic assistance they need to thrive. I wholeheartedly support Networks of Support and the Peer Leadership program that has been implemented at our high school in Red Lake. This initiative has proven to be immensely beneficial for both our students and staff, promoting a positive and collaborative environment within our school community. The program has not only enhanced the social and emotional well-being of the students involved but has also empowered them to take on leadership roles, support their peers, and engage in meaningful interactions in and outside of the school building. The positive impact of this program is being felt throughout our school, creating a culture of support, understanding, and growth that enriches the educational experience for everyone involved. I hope we can continue to grow and expand this program in Red Lake utilizing the research and support provided by Tim McGowan and Networks of Support. This is the important stuff!!
